S.T.E.A.M.

Sciences, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics

At MacKillop College we aim to nurture the girls’ capabilities through a variety of S.T.E.A.M. activities. With more females entering the S.T.E.A.M. fields both at university and at workplaces, we want the girls to feel confident in pursuing their dreams.

STEM Club

STEM Club is run during lunch times and after school for students in Year 7, 8, 9 and 10.

The Club offers a variety of S.T.E.A.M. activities, such as flying drones, programming LEGO EV3 with Python, drawing with Adobe Illustrator and learning 3D animation. A collection of 3D animations from these remarkable girls has been showcased at the local Winterfest here in Bathurst.

Year 9 iSTEM

In the Year 9 iSTEM class, students gain valuable experience by building a variety of projects from scratch. Keeping in line with today’s current conditions, the girls created and designed Corona Robots during their Robotics Unit. From this, the students have gained knowledge in coding in C++, using the Arduino UNO to solve a variety of real-world problems. The Ardunio UNO is an extremely versatile tool enabling the girls to build projects such as a self-watering greenhouse, a responsive light show and an escape room. In this modern and ever-changing world, this is an exceptional experience for the girls at MacKillop College.
