Retreats and Reflection Days

Year 7

Students engage in a Reflection Day facilitated by MacKillop staff and selected Year 11 students. The Reflection Day activities focus on the life, mission and legacy of Mary MacKillop. This Reflection Day, with its focus on Mary MacKillop, allows our students to consider and aspire to emulate the example of Australia’s first Saint and founder of one of our founding charisms, the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart. The Reflection Day is held in Term 3 and occurs at St Joseph’s House, Perthville.

Year 8

Students engage in a Reflection Day facilitated by the Lasallian Youth Team. Lasallian Youth Ministry offers opportunities for young people to discover the fullness of life through innovative experiences of faith, service and community. They aim to empower young people to utilise their gifts in their lives. The theme of this Reflection Day is  ‘Inside Out’. Through a series of activities, students are encouraged to consider their reactions and emotions in certain situations. During group discussions and reflection activities, they each have an opportunity to discuss and reflect on the various ways they respond to situations that occur daily in their lives. Students gain a deeper understanding and appreciation about the humanity of Jesus, through the moments when He experienced intense emotions. The Reflection Day is held in Term 2 and occurs at St Joseph’s House, Perthville.

Year 11

The Year 11 Retreat is a three-day experience that is often remembered as one of the most rewarding and valuable experiences of the students’ final years at the College. This Retreat aims to allow students to examine their God-given strengths, provide opportunities for connection with God through prayer and liturgy and develop bonds between the students and allow time for fun and relaxation. Throughout the retreat students enjoy working in small and large groups, communicating and sharing ideas with their peers, recreational time at Collaroy Beach/Rock pool, visiting the Christmas lights, carols and food stalls in the forecourt at St Mary’s Cathedral and other enjoyable bonding activities with their year group.
