Our Lady Help of Christians

Mary, Help of Christians

Holy is your name.

Woman of faith, woman of compassion,

you love us with a mother’s tender love.

Be our place of safety in times of distress.

Be our comfort when times are difficult,

be our joy as we open ourselves to all that

God calls us to be.

Like you, may we proclaim God’s Word to everyone we meet.

And with your help, may we be a light to the world.

Mary, Help of Christians,

Pray for us. Amen

Mary MacKillop

Mary MacKillop,

we have chosen you as our companion,

to willingly guide and help us in our work and play.

Bless us with your courage and strength.

Fill us with hope that you may lead us to happiness.

Grant us the wisdom to take each step at a time

and the confidence that you will show us the way.

St Mary of the Cross MacKillop,

Pray for us.

Catherine McAuley

Catherine, your heart was moved with compassion by the suffering of others.

Faithful to the God who called you to service,

you willingly shared all that you had with those in great need.

Inspire us to be young women of mercy,

ever mindful of the needs of those around us.

May we, like you, be generous in our giving, joyful in spirit

and humble of heart.

May we be a sign of God’s mercy in action.

Venerable Catherine McAuley

Pray for us.

Our Lady Help of Christians Portrait
Oil on Canvas by Steve Todd, 2016.
This contemporary portrait of Our Lady Help of Christians was commissioned by MacKillop College, to commemorate our 50th Anniversary in 2017. Our Lady Help of Christians has been the College's Patron since the College was established in 1967, as a joint venture by the Sisters of Mercy and the Sisters of St Joseph.
Artist and former MacKillop College Principal, Steve Todd, offers a nurturing image of Mary with the child Jesus, connecting directly to the viewer. The child, Jesus, offers his hand in reaching out to the world with the rays of light offering encouragement to all to 'be a light to the world'.
