Careers

MacKillop College understands the importance of the girls’ life after school by supporting their future pathways and careers education. Students develop their knowledge and skills to make suitable choices through many ways. Within these opportunities, students are supported when discussing subject selection, career planning, individual career pathways, applications for scholarships and University including early-entry, Work Experience decisions and preparation, and provide necessary individual interviews as requested.

In this program, students are fortunate to experience visits from Industries, TAFE and Universities to provide valuable information sessions.

Work Experience

MacKillop College offers an optional Work Experience program for Year 10 students.

The students enjoy the exciting opportunity to take part in a week of work experience either locally or further afield if preferred.

Working collaboratively with business sectors, MacKillop College is fortunate to be able to provide students with work experience opportunities in the following destinations: Accounting, Aged Care, Agriculture, Beauty, Building, Creative Arts, Dental, Education, Employment Services, Floristry, Hairdressing, Health, Law, Media, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Professional Sport, Real Estate, Regional Councils, Special Education, Travel and Veterinarian Services.

MacKillop College is extremely grateful from the support of employers in our local and district communities in giving students this valuable experience.

With rapidly expanding and changing work options, this hands-on experience is ideal for the girls. These opportunities support our careers and future pathways program by giving students practical experience in the ever developing and changing workforce.

TAFE/VET

The girls are provided with the pathway to study via the TAFE/VET Program. Technical and Further Education (TAFE) and Vocational and Educational (VET) programs aim to increase the educational and vocational opportunities available to students. The fields provided are hospitality, tourism, construction, engineering, secretarial skills, visual arts computer programming and community work.

This program is highly successful due to the commitment between MacKillop College and Bathurst TAFE and the students themselves.
