Welcome to the Julian Tenison Woods Learning Resource Centre where we deliver integral teaching and learning at MacKillop College.
We provide a warm, vibrant learning environment which is designed to encourage and enrich students by developing ongoing learning skills and a love of reading. The Learning Centre empowers and transforms those at MacKillop College by providing activities and resources that will assist both students and staff to become effective and discriminate users of information.
Collaboration between staff and teachers ensures there is an extensive range of resources that support the students’ education, reflect current NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA), and offer opportunities for research and deeper learning.
The Learning Centre collections encompass both print and digital resources including online e-books and audio books, encyclopedias, academic journals and newspapers. The extensive fiction collection, together with the Accelerated Reader Program, aims to encourage a lifelong love of reading and literature.
The flexible spaces in the Learning Centre are popular for quiet senior study, collaborative classes, group work and individual learning. The Learning Centre is a place to be with friends before and after school, as well as during recess and lunch.
The Learning Centre is a space for hosting a range of MacKillop College engagements such as staff meetings, parent information evenings, extension HSC classes, talented and gifted activities and student form meetings.
